Education is a privilege that unfortunately is not available to millions of children around the world. Every child deserves an opportunity to have an education and Pencils of Promise was able to provide that by building schools in these developing countries.
Pencils of Promise (PoP) is a non-profit organization that has successfully built 35 schools in Laos, Nicaragua and Guatemala. Their goal is to continue building more schools thus schools4all was created. Schools4all is fundraising challenge that asks for your support in raising money so that PoP could continue to build schools and provide quality education to millions of children.
What better way to spend a relaxing trip before the baby arrives? A baby-moon to Playa Del Carmen, of course! Our agenda for the trip: relax! Every single day was the same routine. We would wake up, eat breakfast, chill at the poolside/beach, head back to our private plunge pool for relaxation, nap, dinner, hanging out and then head to bed. The best part of the trip was being able to sleep in - a rare but treasured treat for us.
Rarely do I ever go shopping with my Mother. One, she takes too long in one store and two, we seldom shop at the same places. My mom had stumbled upon this pretty number and handed it to me. I instantly wanted the dress without the hassle of even test driving it. It was just too cute to pass up esp with its price tag. My mom said she’ll buy it as part of my birthday gift and I happily accepted! Gotta love Moms! :)
My first thought when I saw this skirt hanging on the rack was “wow, cute skirt & luv the color!”. The skirt turned out to be very ill-fitting and as I was about to put the skirt back on the rack, a light bulb popped into my head and came up with the idea of wearing it as a tube dress! Bright idea, yea?
I am loving all the pleated skirts that I’ve been seeing so I decided to join in on the trend. I had purchased this skirt from Zara and love the color and flowyness. The length…the length needed some getting use to. It isn’t the usual knee, midi, ankle nor floor length that I am use to wearing but after confirming it with my husband numerous times and looking in the mirror for quite a while, I actually don’t mind it but I still much prefer it to be a tad shorter or ankle length. I guess something new is always good.
Oh! I am definitely loving all the bright and bold colors for Spring - everything from clothes, shoes, accessories and even the lips! Esp love the bright lips…it adds a little bit of oomph and Spring to your look!
Our last adventure in San Diego was visiting the San Diego Zoo. Horrible day for any outdoor activities - temperature in the 40s and the drizzling rain made this trip to the zoo very unappealing. We made the best out of it and I did capture pictures of the animals you can’t find in Texas or pretty much elsewhere in the states - polar bears, koala bears and pandas!
After spending few hours at the zoo, my husband surprised me with some “me” time at the spa while he took Cohen to the beach to play. He booked me a 2 hour massage (very much needed!) and I enjoyed every single minute of it!
We ended our last evening in SD with dinner to celebrate my birthday. Celebrating my birthday in SD (anywhere but Houston is always fabulous) with the people I love most (I did wish my younger son was there to join us!)….I couldn’t ask for anything else.
Cohen gazing at New York City made out of Legos! (He was actually intrigued by the moving Lego cars)
My husband had to go to San Diego for business and thought it would be a good idea to turn the trip into a mini family vacation with our older boy, Cohen. San Diego zoo + Legoland = paradise for an almost 3-yr old! So i packed our bags and toted Cohen on the plane for his first plane ride ever to meet up w/ my husband who was already there in SD. Of course that meant dealing w/ Cohen and his first plane ride on my own….yikes!! As it turned out, I was nervous and worried about nothing. He did great! Thank you, ipad! :)
I couldnt ask for better weather our first day, sunny and cold - perfect for all day at Legoland! By all day, I mean 6 hrs of walking around the park twice & riding roller coasters at least 4 times. It was exhausting, to say the least, but was well worth it. Boy, did Cohen have a blast! Not only that, his parents managed to enjoy themselves just as much! Who knew Legoland was for grownups too?! :)
With all the activities in the daytime, my feet were screaming for some r&r so flats were the logical choice for our night out to dinner. Ssince it was colder at night, it was the perfect time to make use of my Celine sweater I got from the Celine Paris store - the last XS available and on sale! Those 2 facts always get me! ;) It has become one of my favorite pieces so I’ve no regrets!
This Alaia dress was sitting in my closet since its purchase back in 2009 from Paris, waiting to be worn. With its loose waistline cinched by a drawstring, I thought it would be perfect to wear with my growing pregnant belly. Still being able to wear high heels without being highly uncomfortable, I pulled out my unworn rose pink YSL sandals for a touch of color - perfect for Spring.
As I stepped out of the bedroom, my older son said to me, “Oh, wow…princess dress, mommy. wow!” He then handed me his inflatable Chucky Cheese crown and asked me to put it on my head and said, “Mommy is a Princess!” Kids say the cutest and simplest thing that means the world to you. He definitely made me feel like a Princess that evening!
